Documents Required

  • Passport:The Passport should have a minimum validity of 9 months on the date of application with at least two blank pages. Tampered/ damaged passports are not accepted. All previous passports (If previous is passport is lost please ensure endorsement to that effect in current passport or provide the police compliant report)
  • 2 photographs (Passport size, White background)
  • NIC card/ Driving license / Birth Certificate (only any one of three)

Financial Requirement

  • Three months Bank statement having healthy average daily balance, clearly reflecting name, address of account holder with account opening date
  • Average monthly balance of LKR 40000/= per applicant.
  • Accounts with sudden deposits just prior to date of application will not be accepted.
  • Current Account having overdraft (DR)/ insufficient funds will not be accepted unless linked collateral Security-Fixed Deposit Receipt is attached.
  • Copy of international credit card clearly reflecting applicant’s name and validity date of card. Credit Card Copy should be accompanied by statement revealing total and available credit.
  • Business Registration Certificate, if attached bank statement belongs to a business entity

Sponsored cases

  • Attached first page of sponsor Passport.
  • Sponsorship letter should clearly mention sponsor’s relation with applicant(s).
  • Sponsor should have credit average monthly balance of 50000/- per person and should not sponsor more than 4 Applicants other than immediate family members.
  • Current Account having overdraft (DR)/ insufficient funds will not be accepted unless linked collateral Security-Fixed Deposit Receipt is attached.
  • Sponsor cannot submit (i) Credit card statement (ii)Fixed Deposit Receipt (FDR) as financial guarantee due to lack of liquidity to sponsor an applicant.
  • Only original bank (not photocopy) statement issued by bank and attested with rubber stamp of concerned bank with date will be accepted.

Business Visa

  1. Appropriate endorsement of occupation/profession that justify applying Business visa.
  2. Invitation letter from company in India indicating exact purpose and duration of stay in India and letter from applicant’s company (employer) in Sri Lanka sponsoring the business visit to India indicating position and nature of applicant’s work in the organisation.
  3. Letter of Incorporation/Commercial Licence/Certificate of Registration of Indian Company.
  4. Registration Certificate/ Business Registration Certification/undertakings issued by the Sri Lankan authorities indicating, position held by the applicant in the company or Authority sponsoring his visit to India.
  5. Duly completed Visa Application Form
  6. Two (02) recent (not older than three months) colour photographs with white background – 2 x 2 inch (Photo on the Passport and Form must tally with applicant’s present appearance).
  7. Previous passports (If previous is passport is lost please ensure endorsement to that effect in current passport or provide the police compliant report).
  8. Photocopy of N.I.C / Driving License/ Birth Certificate (For Sri Lanka national only).
  9. Address Proof (NIC/Driving License / Bank Statement / Rent Agreement / Telephone Bill / G S Certificate).
  10. Three months bank statement of Sri Lankan Employer sponsoring applicant’s visit. in exceptional cases applicant’s own bank statement having healthy daily balance.
  11. An undertaking from Sri Lankan Employer or Indian Host Company on incurring expenses related to applicant’s travel, stay and other expenditure.

Transit Visa

  1. Duly completed Visa Application Form.
  2. Two (02) recent colour photographs (not older than three months) with white background – 2-inch x 2 inch (Photo on the Passport and Application Form must match applicant’s present appearance).
  3. Previous passports (If previous passport is lost please provide the police compliant report).
  4. Ticket for onward journey through India.
  5. For Sri Lanka national photocopy of NIC / Driving License or Birth Certificate.
  6. Address Proof (NIC/Driving License / Bank Statement / Rent Agreement / Telephone Bill / G S Certificate).
  7. In case of minor No objection letter from parents along with photocopy of their passports.
  8. For non-Sri Lankan nationals applying for a visa, photocopy of their passport must be enclosed with the visa application form.

Yes, only if you are a pilot, cabin crew or a frequent business flyer you will need to show your other travel itinerary and can travel and submit your passport when your visa is ready for stamping.
